When retaining walls start to fail, it's not just an eyesore - it's a safety problem. Crumbling blocks, leaning faces, and shifting soil put your whole outdoor space at risk. That's exactly what we were dealing with here before we pulled everything out and started fresh.

We removed the old walls completely and built two new retaining walls - one wrapping the pool area and one along the patio. Both walls were built with quality block and proper gravel backfill to handle water movement and soil pressure the right way. That gravel bed you see running along the base isn't just for looks - it's doing real drainage work behind the wall.

The curved section near the pool is worth pointing out. Curves take more time and more precision than a straight run. Every block has to be cut or adjusted to keep the face tight and the courses level. We don't skip that work because that's what separates a wall that lasts from one that fails again in a few years.

Good retaining walls do two things at once - they hold back the grade and they define the space. A patio or pool area that's properly walled off feels intentional. It gives the whole backyard structure. That's the difference solid hardscaping makes.

Whether you've got walls that are already showing problems or an outdoor space that just needs better bones, this is the kind of work that pays off long-term. Built right, a retaining wall should hold for decades without shifting, cracking, or leaning.
